Suffocating

Suffocating

I'm starting to think
These walls are starting to shrink
They've swallowed up the windows
I can't see a thing

But I made a promise
I don't plan on breaking
Don't know how long I've been waiting
No I don't mind suffocating

The photographs are fading
The floors are splintered and chafing
I can't sleep with all the noise
That my memories are making

But I made a promise
I don't plan on breaking
Don't know how long I've been waiting
No I don't mind suffocating

I heard today through the cracks
About a girl a few years back
Who spent so long waiting
She forgot she was suffocating

I'd hate to die like that.

Remember When

Remember when we unplugged the stars?
Stumbling in the night
To learn how to be blind
Remember when we ran fast down the foothills?
Falling to the ground
To learn how to slow down

Now blind is all we know
And we’re tired of being slow
But at least we remember when

Remember when we painted the town red?
Ruled the world for awhile
To learn how to be wild
Remember when sobbed aloud for everyone to hear?
Eroded hollows in our cheeks
To learn how to be weak

Now we can’t rise to our throne
Not a tear left in our dry bones
But we still remember when

Remember when we when built the tallest wall in the world?
Even scraped the skies
To learn just how high
Remember when we set fire to the flowered fields?
Watched beauty die in joy
To learn how to destroy

Now the bricks are broken on the floor
And you don’t bring me roses anymore
But we remember when
